Ron Carlstrom
I’m primarily responsible for the overall financial strategy and direction at AccuQuote. I guide the controller, treasury, accounting, tax, and internal audit functions. I love getting deep into our data and building financial models and benchmarking tools while providing strategic analysis to pursue our growth strategy.
Prior to joining the team at AccuQuote, I was CFO at VTL, where I helped build the company from the ground-up and lead it to an acquisition by CareerBuilder. I’ve also worked in other professional capacities including both sales and operations and across multiple industries including technology, service, and retail.
However, the greatest influence and sound business experience I’ve gained in my life came from being raised by a pair of entrepreneurial parents, that have for 40 years, worked crazy-long and purposeful hours to build, grow and sustain one of the more successful mom and pop retail establishments in the northern suburbs of Chicago. Their entrepreneurial spirit is something that has been emblazoned in me since my earliest memories.
When not at work, or wondering what it would be like to score the game-winner in triple overtime of a Stanley Cup Final, I spend most of my time with my wife Angie and our three amazing kids, Jared, Maggie and Trevor. Angie and I met at Champaign when I auditioned with a rock band as a piano/organ player. Coaching, watching, and driving kids to hockey, baseball, soccer, softball, and volleyball pretty much dominates my time now, and there is nothing in the world that I would trade for it.
Along with earning a pseudo Ph.D. in fatherhood, I’ve earned a B.A. in History, Political Science and Economics along with an MBA in Finance.
