Byron J. Udell
Starting in the insurance business in 1986, after a couple of years as a lawyer, my practice evolved into a multi-carrier, consumer centric independent life brokerage agency. Along the way, I picked up the CLU, CFP, and ChFC accreditations. AccuQuote is as much a part of who I am as my family is. At the beginning, I started out focused mainly on helping wealthy individuals and families protect their loved ones. By 1994 I knew the life insurance industry was where I belonged, and I knew I had the passion and drive to take my knowledge of the industry, its products and services nationwide online, and if I did it the right way, providing people an easy way to find affordable coverage, I could be a pioneer in the industry. The key is finding the best product for the client, every time, and providing them with easily understandable information they need to best protect their families.
Fast forward 33 years and my daily life at AccuQuote is a lot different than it was in 1986! I have an amazing team of employees working every day to contribute to the vision. I have the opportunity to spend time working with our newest agents, our agents who find themselves engaged with clients that have very specific unique needs, as well as working on all sorts of new concepts and partnerships to grow us further and expand our abilities to be the best in the business of protecting families.
33 years in the industry and one super successful business later I find that a lot of my time outside the building is still for the business! I have become an industry expert and am often invited to lend my knowledge and passion for Life, Disability and Long Term Care to various radio and television shows, print and online media sources including CNN, Forbes, Money, Kiplinger’s, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times and many others. I have co-authored two popular financial and estate planning books entitled “Wealth Enhancement and Preservation” (1996) and “Wealth 2000” (2000).
I have also served as a charter member and currently am on the board of directors of LIDMA (Life Insurance Direct Marketing Association) since 2007 and had the privilege to serve as LIDMA president for two years. LIDMA is comprised of Insurance Companies, Exam and Technology Venders who serve the insurance industry, as well as insurance brokers and producers.
I also serve on the board of directors for the non-profit industry organization, Life Happens, whose primary goal is to educate consumers about life insurance.
When I do take breaks I enjoy golfing, hiking, mountain and road biking, skiing, and cooking and have recently discovered a new passion–grand parenting! Our first grandson was born recently, and to say my wife Frani and I are over the moon would be slightly understating things.
