He founded Byron Udell & Associates in 1986 and, for the first eight years, focused mainly on helping wealthy individuals and families with their permanent and term life insurance and estate planning needs.
In 1994, Udell expanded his vision and was determined to provide the general public with an easy way to find affordable term life insurance. AccuQuote was formed and it was a pioneer in providing free term life insurance quotes online. With more than 25 years of industry knowledge, Udell is widely acknowledged as one of the nation's foremost life insurance and annuity industry experts. In addition to his law degree (JD), he has earned the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), and Certified Financial Planner (CFP) professional designations.
Byron Udell has written numerous industry articles about permanent and term life insurance and been cited in hundreds of business publications, financial books, and other periodicals. He is also a participating author of two popular financial and estate planning books entitled "Wealth Enhancement and Preservation" (1996) and "Wealth 2000" (2000). His expertise is often called upon by the national media, including CNN, Forbes, Money, Kiplinger's, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and many others to comment on various life insurance issues.
Byron Udell holds a Bachelors Degree (BS) in Business Administration from the University of Illinois. He also holds a Law Degree (JD) from the Illinois Institute of Technology Chicago-Kent College of Law. He resides in Northbrook, Ill., with his wife Frani and their three children.
